Richard Hamilton Obituary

Richard H. Hamilton, 80, of Lynn Center, formerly of Canton, IL, passed away on December 10, 2023, at Trinity Hospital-Rock Island. Per his wishes he will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be held from 12- 4 PM on January 13, 2023, at the Canton, IL VFW 1200 S 5th Ave, Canton, IL 61520. Richard was born on February 28, 1943, in Benton Harbor, MI, the son of William and Ruth (Wilkens) Hamilton. He was raised in Fulton Co. IL. He married Edith Keifer on September 21, 1991, and she still survives. Richard served in the United States Marine Corps from 1959-1964. He was the Past Commander of the Canton VFW. He was a member of the Marine Corps League and American Legion. Richard worked at the Havana Power Plant for 32 years until his retirement. He enjoyed boating, traveling and spending time with family.

Those left to cherish his memory are wife, Edith Keifer-Hamilton of Lynn Center, children; Trisha Hamilton of Canton, Angie Hamilton of Canton, Carrie McCaw of Coal Valley and John Keifer of Bloomington, grandchildren; Ashley Wilcoxen, Jordan Hamilton, Skyler Biswell, Dallas Biswell, Tori McCaw and Keifer McCaw, 6 great grandchildren and sister, Dolores (Gary) Southwood of Canton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bill and John Hamilton, sister, Lucy Lightle and granddaughter, Brittany Carley.
