Richard L. Slock

Richard L. Slock, 76, of Geneseo, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Atkinson Chapel.  Reverend S. Stephen Engelbrecht will officiate.  Burial will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery, Atkinson.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, prior to the funeral at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to Hillcrest Home, Activity Department, 14688 Illinois Highway 82, Geneseo, IL, 61254.

Richard was born September 13, 1945, the son of Frank and Emma (DeVlieger) Slock, in Atkinson.  He graduated from St. Coletta School in Jefferson, WI. Rick was considered a master gardener both at St. Coletta and Hillcrest.  Richard enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, watching sports and westerns, and activities at Hillcrest Home.  He was interested in farming and was a rosary maker.

Those left to cherish his memory include niece, Kathy VerCautren; nephews, Martin Krug, Patrick Krug, and Kristopher (Cassandra) Krug; three great-nieces; two great-nephews, four great-great-nieces, and two great-great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Emma, sister, Elaine Krug, brother-in-law, Gilbert Krug and a infant niece, Christine Krug.
