Richard “Dick” L. McKibbon, 87, of Annawan, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo. A Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m. with a visitation to directly follow from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Atkinson Chapel. Knights of Columbus will have a ceremony at 7:00 p.m., immediately following the visitation. A second visitation will be available from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Atkinson Chapel, with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Atkinson. Reverend S. Stephen Engelbrecht will celebrate. Cremation Rites will be accorded following the funeral service. Memorials may be directed to the Annawan/Alba Fire Department and St. Jude Children’s Research Center.
Richard was born on July 12, 1938, the son of Archie and Maxine (Franks) McKibbon, in Geneseo. He graduated from Atkinson High School. On May 4, 1957, he married Ann Marie VanOpdorp in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Atkinson. Dick was a member of St. Anthony Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Northern Illinois Colt Association.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Ann McKibbon; children, Jodine (Gail) Taets, Valerie Johnson, Mark (Patty) McKibbon, Paula (Mark) Vandersnick, Colleen (Frank) Thurston; son-in-law, Jeremy Gibson; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; sister, Mary Ann (Kenneth) Specht; and brother, John McKibbon.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Maxine McKibbon; daughter, Laura Gibson; and son-in-law, Ron Johnson.
