Roberta Mae (DeFauw) VanDeVoorde, 88, of rural Annawan, passed away on January 18, 2021, with her children by her side. A private Funeral Mass with her family will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Annawan, where she was a parishioner. Reverend S. Stephen Engelbrecht will officiate. Roberta will be laid to rest at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Atkinson. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory - Atkinson Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Roberta VanDeVoorde Memorial Fund, to be used for several charities.
Roberta was born on January 16, 1933, the daughter of Cyriel and Kathryn DeFauw, in rural Geneseo. She married Howard A. VanDeVoorde on September 9, 1950. Howard passed away on September 30, 2008.
Roberta and Howard were life-long farmers. She loved being with family and friends. Roberta had a very strong faith. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and was an amazing homemaker.
Survivors include her children, Harold VanDeVoorde, Annawan, Kathryn (Steve) Doubler, Annawan, Carolyn Sleaford, Annawan, Karen (Tim) Anderson, Annawan, David VanDeVoorde, Annawan, Janet Hartman, Ottawa, and Angie (Victor) Kluever, Annawan; grandchildren, Holly (Matt) Wangelin, Molly (Stan) Redell, Mark Doubler, Kim (Dan) Peck, Katie Sleaford, Andy (Denelle) Anderson, Bob (Lori) Anderson, Dan (Erica) Anderson, Cyriel VanDeVoorde, Alex Hartman, Blake Hartman, Kelli Kluever, and Zachary Kluever; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Riley Redell, Libby and Luke Wangelin, Ella, Owen and Iyla Anderson, Cash and Sawyer Anderson, Evan, Avery John and Adelyn Anderson; her brother, Dale DeFauw; several in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her parents; brothers, Richard, Earl, Roy, and Howard DeFauw; sister, Ruth Lauwagie; and son-in-law, Jeff Hartman.
