Rodney was born in Macomb, IL, on April 21, 1949, the son of Arthur Lee and Marilyn Jean (Dennis) Wagner. He graduated from Quincy High School Class of 1967. He went on to attend Spoon River College and Western Illinois University. Rodney married Victoria Ann Bozard on November 18, 1972, and she survives. He started working for his father-in-law as a carpenter before moving to Boston, MA and working as security for the First Church of Christ, Scientist. In 2003 Rodney and Vicki moved back to Illinois and spent several years flipping houses together. Rod then worked as a dedicated Christian Science Practitioner and was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in both Boston and Moline. He wrote several poems and articles for the Christian Science Monitor and Sentinel publications. Rod enjoyed building things in his workshop, boating, and golfing. He achieved his dream of becoming a snowbird in Florida and even learned to “snuba dive” in Hawaii. You could often find him taking walks and drives on country roads, but mostly spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are wife, Victoria Ann Wagner of Geneseo, children; Troy Matthew (Melissa) Wagner of New Hampshire, Amanda Roselle (Daren) Clary of Aurora, IL, and Mariah Ann (Brady Newkirk) Wagner of Ames, IA, siblings; Dennis Lee (Sally) Wagner, David Bruce (Pat) Wagner and Lynn Ann Kysar, grandchildren; Jordan Taylor (Brian) Underhill, Austin Michael Wagner, Blake William Clary and Paige Roselle Clary.
Think of Rod when you pause to smell the roses, take a scenic drive through the country, or hear your favorite oldies playing on the radio.
