Roger William Brummet, 94, of Geneseo, IL, passed away peacefully, with his beloved wife by his side, on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Hammond Henry Hospital in Geneseo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo. Father Daniel Gifford will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery located in Atkinson, IL, immediately following the service. Visitation will be held from 5:00 -7:00 pm, preceded by a Recitation of the Rosary at 4:30 p.m., on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Vandemore Funeral Home - Geneseo Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the family and will be distributed amongst local charities.
Roger was born at home on March 20, 1932, in Rinard, IL, to Pearl Banner and Faye Falitzia (Loye) Brummet. He graduated from J. D. Darnall High School, Class of 1950, and then served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954, serving in the Korean War. He was honored to have been a veteran on the September 18, 2014, Honor Flight #29 of the QC.
On September 6, 1958, Roger married Patricia (Pat) Lehman, at St. Malachy’s Church. Together they shared 67 years of marriage, building a life rooted in faith, hard work, and family. He was employed at Natural Gas Pipeline in Geneseo for 32.5 years, retiring in 1986 at the age of 54. He still mowed his own lawn until the age of 91.
He was a member of St. Malachy’s Church and was a 58-year member of the Moose Lodge in Geneseo. He enjoyed his morning coffee and fellowship at the Geneseo Donut Shop. He will be remembered for his service to his nation, strong work ethic, his love for his family, and his love of life’s simple joys.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pat, his children: Ronald (Sara) Brummet, Port Byron; Rita (Rick) Franks, Geneseo; and Robert Brummet (fiancé Keri Rickey), Geneseo; two grandchildren, Ryan Brummet and Amanda (Sam) May; one great granddaughter, Marilyn May, as well as two brothers, Colin (Marlene) Brummet and Glenn (Sherry) Brummet, and a sister-in-law, Helen (Bengtson) Brummet, and many nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Violet Brummet, Edna Mae Smith and Ernestine Murphy, and a brother LaVerne Brummet, as well as brothers-in law, Ronald Murphy and George Smith.
