Ronald “Ron” Earl DeFauw, 63, of Atkinson, IL, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021, at Advocate South Suburban Hospital, in Hazel Crest, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Atkinson. Reverend S. Stephen Engelbrecht will Celebrate. Burial will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021, at Vandemore Funeral Home – Atkinson Chapel. A Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Ron DeFauw Memorial Fund.
Ron was born on April 19, 1958, the son of Earl and Janice (Galle) DeFauw, in Geneseo, IL. He graduated from Geneseo High School, class of 1976. He married Julie Cryer on September 10, 1983, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Atkinson. He was employed at John Deere as a welder and in marketing until his retirement. He was a farmer at heart and enjoyed working on his father’s farm. He loved old John Deere Tractors, especially two-cylinder John Deere Tractors. He was a gear head and loved working on anything with an engine.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Julie, Atkinson, IL; sons, Ryan (Rachel Murray) DeFauw, Grand Junction, CO, and Kyle DeFauw, Denver, CO; sisters, Lynette (Ken) DeSmith, Atkinson, IL, Julie (Jay) Minnaert, Atkinson, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Janice.
