Ronald “Ron” DePauw, 64, of Annawan, passed away suddenly on August 7, 2024. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Home and Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 10 am at Vandemore Funeral Home and Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. Deacon Bob DePauw will officiate. The burial will follow at the Mineral Cemetery in Mineral, IL. Memorials may be directed to the Ron DePauw Memorial Fund to be distributed amongst his favorite charities.
Ronald “Papa Ron” DePauw was born on February 23, 1960, the son of William and Dorothy (Schaubroeck) DePauw. He graduated from J.D. Darnell High School in 1979 and went on to receive his associate’s degree in applied science from Black Hawk East College. He married Misty Collier on September 21, 1991. She precedes him in death. Ron was a member of the Antique Engine and Tractor Association and was a member of the Mineral Town Board. Ron started his own business; DePauw Septic, and he was always willing to help anyone in need. He loved fishing, snowmobiling, and taking trips to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Later in life, Ron enjoyed landscaping, woodworking, and grilling on his patio no matter what the weather. He loved spending time with friends and family and will always be remembered for his signature peace sign.
Those left to cherish Ron’s memory include daughters; Sarina (Justin) Roggy of Mineral, IL, Alyssa DePauw (Zach Oldaker) of Neenah, WI, and Samantha DePauw (Kirk Jenkin) of Waukee, IA; brothers, Steve (Julie) DePauw of Geneseo, IL, Vernon (Kathy) DePauw of Jerseyville, IL, and Ray DePauw of Geneseo, IL; grandchildren, Dominick Davies, Sky DePauw, Esme Roggy, and Ryker Roggy; great-grandchildren Leighana Morey and Lovelynn DePauw and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy; wife, Misty; and sister, Ellen DePauw.
