Rosella M. “Pickle” Vandersnick, 88, of Atkinson, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Allure of Geneseo. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Atkinson Chapel. Reverend Stephen Engelbrecht will officiate. Inurnment will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, prior to the funeral service with the Recitation of the Rosary beginning at 9:45 a.m. She will be laid to rest at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery-Atkinson. Pickle was born on October 18, 1934, the daughter of Peter and Lucy (Verkruysse) Eeckhout, in Atkinson, IL. She graduated from Atkinson High School, class of 1953. In May of 1953, Rosella married Marvin Vandersnick at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Atkinson. Pickle was an avid New York Yankees and Minnesota Vikings fan. She also enjoyed dancing, and bowling. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Altar & Rosary Society, and the Atkinson American Legion Auxiliary.
Those left to cherish her memory include grandchildren, Bartholomew (Kim) Vandersnick and Brooke (Ryan) Sellers; great-grandchildren, Luna and Sage; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Vandersnick; nephews, Larry Hines and Gary (Yolanda) Claeys.
Rosella was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Lucy Eeckhout; loving husband, Marvin Vandersnick; children, Rosalind and Randy Vandersnick; niece, Gay Hines; and sister, Rhoda Claeys.
