Russell Crowe, 76 of Atkinson, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis Hospital, Davenport, IA. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Vandemore Funeral Home – Atkinson Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Grandview Cemetery in Atkinson. Reverend Terry Lancaster will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
Russell Crowe was born on March 6, 1950, in Forest City, Arkansas, to William and Mildred (Clarke) Crowe. He attended Elgin High School and, in 1968, married the love of his life, Betty Williams. The couple shared 58 beautiful years of marriage.
Russell began his career in construction and later became a proud member of the carpenters’ union. A lifelong “gearhead,” he had a deep passion for hot rods and restoring classic cars. Known by many as a true jack-of-all-trades, he could fix just about anything. He also found great joy in listening to his favorite artist, Elvis Presley.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Betty Crowe of Atkinson; children, Phil Crowe and Christopher Crowe, both of Atkinson; and sister, Glenda Frost of Malvern, AR.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mildred Crowe; and siblings, Vera, Daphine, Sue, Linda, Leon, JW, and LaVerne.
