Obituary
Ruth A. Windy, 90, of Geneseo, IL, passed away on April 14, 2023, at Allure of Geneseo. Private services for the family will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo, IL. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory-Geneseo Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ruth was born in Geneseo on December 10, 1932, the daughter of Raymond and Alma (Franzmann) Matteson. She married David Windy on January 19, 1950, in Geneseo and he survives. Ruth was a beautician for a few years in Geneseo, and she loved to quilt, crochet, garden, go fishing, and cook. She was a member of the Geneseo Evangelical Free Church where she was in a quilt club and enjoyed spinning her own fiber. Ruth and David lived on the family farm for fifty years.
Those left to cherish her memory are husband, David Windy; daughters; Judy Hill of FL, Sally Foos of AL, and Nancy Dinkel of IL; sister, Shirley VanRyan; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Alma Matteson; and five siblings.
