Serenity Van Raalte

Serenity Van Raalte, 9, of Cambridge, IL, passed away at her home surrounded by family on May 9, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory-Geneseo Chapel. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM prior to the service. Serenity was born on July 10, 2013, at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Roger Van Raalte and Vania O’Sullivan. She had a congenital heart defect called (PA-VSD) or Pulmonary Atresia with Ventricular Septal Defect. When you hear the name Serenity most people think of peace and calm but that is not the case with this Serenity. She was smart. She was strong. She was sassy and she loved to prove everyone wrong. Her family will miss her tremendously.

Those left to cherish her memory are her parents, Roger Van Raalte and Vania O’Sullivan; grandparents; Rita Van Raalte, Crystal Vancil and Edith Moore; brothers; Tylor and Landon Van Raalte; aunt, Amanda (Ricky) Anderson; uncles; Patrick, Christopher, and Leeland O’Sullivan; cousins; Aaron Kuster, Nickolas Anderson and Oliver Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Jerry Van Raalte; uncle, Christopher Van Raalte; and great grandfather, R.G. Moore.
