Shawn Thomas DeBruyne, 72, of Mountain Home, AR, formerly of Geneseo, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the Hospice House of the Ozarks in Mountain Home, AR. Cremation rites have been accorded, and a private family burial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo, where Shawn will be laid to rest at the “DePauw” family plot and join his parents, Jerome “Jerry” DeBruyne and Doreen DePauw DeBruyne. Vandemore Funeral Home and Crematory - Geneseo will be assisting the family.
Shawn was born on April 6, 1954, and graduated from J.D. Darnall High School with the Class of 1972. Shawn worked at Sieben Hybrids before moving to Longview, Texas in the early 1980’s. Shawn eventually relocated to Mountain Home, AR. Shawn enjoyed writing music and playing guitar. Shawn was a simple man and lived a simple life.
Those left to cherish his memory include a brother, Chad DeBruyne of Longview, TX; uncle Richard (Marlene) DePauw of Moline, IL; cousins, Todd (Alyce) Glazier of Plano, TX, Chris (Rick Jewell) Elsberg of Rock Island, IL, Melinda (Duane) Brown of Coal Valley, IL and Becky (Jerry) Canfield of Geneseo, IL. He is also survived by his special friend, Heather Clayton of Mountain Home, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Doreen DeBruyne, and his sister, Ann Sowells.
