Stanley J. Verstraete

Stanley Joseph Verstraete, 79, of Galesburg, IL, passed away at his home on January 29, 2025. A private family graveside service will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery-Atkinson. He will be laid to rest at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Stanley J. Verstraete Memorial Fund. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory-Atkinson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Stan was born on March 15, 1945, in Geneseo, IL, the son of Bernard and Helen (Haars) Verstraete. He graduated from Atkinson High School and went on to trade school in St. Louis, MO. He returned home back to Galesburg and started work at Admiral Appliance Corporation for over 40 years. Stan loved going to the Galesburg Library and spending time reading. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs and NASCAR fan.

Those left to cherish his memory are siblings; Barbara Armstrong of Orlando, FL, Kathleen (Ronald) Reed of Cambridge, IL, Ronald (Kitty) Verstraete of Papillion, NE and Marvin (Kimberly) Verstraete of Atkinson, IL and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Helen Verstraete, brother, Jim Verstraete, brother-in-law, John Armstrong and great niece, Emma Verstraete.
