Steve F. Klotz

Steve F. Klotz, 62, of Geneseo, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019, at Unity Point Health-Trinity, Rock Island.  Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at St. Malachy Catholic Church, Geneseo.  Reverend Michael Pakula will celebrate.  Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel.  Cremation rites will be accorded.  Memorials may be directed to the Geneseo Community Chest or St. Malachy Catholic Church.

Steve was born on October 4, 1956, the son of Casper “Casey” and Rosemary (Diel) Klotz, in St. Louis, MO.  Steve attended Geneseo High School, graduating in 1975.  He attended Blackhawk College and graduated from Western Illinois University.  Steve married Theresa M. Whittington on August 18, 1979, in Geneseo.  He was employed by GMAC, as an insurance and finance educator, for over 15 years, retiring in 2009.  He was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church.  Steve enjoyed golfing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.  He enjoyed watching all sports, auto shows, and car auctions on TV.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 39 years, Theresa; mother, Rosemary Klotz; sister, Sue (Jim) Klotz -Morris, NY; brothers, Bill (Ruth) Klotz, Atkinson, Chris Klotz, OH; brother and sister-in-law’s, Dave (Rojean) Whittington, Mike (Trudy) Whittington, Steven (Missy) Whittington, Marilyn Whittington, Sue Whittington; 18 nieces and nephews; 15 great nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his father Casper “Casey” Klotz, his brother Dave Klotz, his sister Mary Woods, and brother-in-law’s Rick Whittington and Dan Whittington.
