Steven Michael Foerder, 70, of Kewanee, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island. Cremation rites have been accorded, and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Vandemore Funeral Home – Geneseo Chapel with Reverend Terry Lancaster officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Steve was born on October 7, 1955. He was the son of Don and Shirley (Stiner) Foerder. Steve was a proud graduate of the University of Illinois. On September 13, 1980, he married Wendy Heller at the First Congregational Church. He was employed by Ace Hardware in Princeton and actively farmed at Foerder Farms.
Steve found deep joy in the land and simple pleasures of rural life. He cherished hunting with his grandson, raising sheep, beekeeping, and tending the family farm. He also treasured vacationing and relaxing, spending quality time with his grandkids, and sharing a good meal out with his beloved wife, Wendy. Steve will be remembered for his dedication to family, his hardworking spirit, and his love for the outdoors and the community.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Wendy Foerder; mother, Shirley Foerder, son, Robert (Kelly) Foerder; daughter, Tracey (James) Houlihan; grandchildren, Reid Foerder, Elsie Foerder, Adeline Foerder, and Alayna Houlihan; and siblings, Mark Foerder, Lisa (Jim) Betsworth and many nieces and nephews.
Steven was preceded in death by his grandparents, father, Don Foerder; and his birth father, Robert Ullrick
