A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Malachys Catholic Church in Geneseo, IL. Father Haake will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Susan was born on August 24, 1951, in Geneseo, Illinois, to Charles and Louise Ziegler. She married the love of her life, Joseph Ricail, on August 18, 1973. She was a devoted wife who proudly supported her husband throughout his 21-year career in the United States Air Force. During those years, she embraced the opportunity to travel the world, including time spent living in Germany.

She was a loving and dedicated mother to her three children. Following her husband’s retirement from the military, Susan returned to her hometown of Geneseo and settled in Atkinson in 1990, where she remained close to her family and continued raising her children. Family was always at the center of her life.

Susan was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was known for her strong work ethic, having worked for several years at The Deck until its closing, and continuing her career in the hotel industry until her retirement.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including traveling, camping, fishing, reading, and playing bingo. Above all, she was deeply devoted to her grandchildren, who were truly her pride and joy.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Ricail; her children, Michelle (August) Perkins of Atkinson, Illinois, Cinthia (Toby) Stoner of Atkinson, Illinois, and Charles Ricail of Atkinson, Illinois; her sister, Donna Ziegler of Geneseo; and her brother, David (Becky) Ziegler of Moline, Illinois; 4 grandchildren: Nicole (Andrew) Faulkner, Justin (Ashley) Ricail, Jason Stoner and Kylee Perkins and great grandson Noah Ricail.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Louise Ziegler, and her brother, Gary Ziegler.

Susan will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her strength, and the love she shared with all who knew her.

Special thank you to the amazing caregivers from Hammond Henry Home Healthcare and Hospice Compassus for their caring support and guidance during this difficult time.
