Teresa Obsnuk Obituary

Teresa M. Obsnuk, 61, of Moline, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Saint Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, IL.  A memorial funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel.  Reverend Terry Lancaster will officiate. A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.  The family asks that those in attendance do not wear black as Teresa would have enjoyed seeing people in her favorite colors of green and purple, or wearing Wisconsin Badgers gear.  The memorial service will be livestreamed at www.vandemorefuneralhome.com/live-stream.  Burial will be held at a later date, at North Cemetery, Geneseo.  Memorials may be made in her memory to the Teresa Obsnuk Memorial Fund.  Online condolences may be directed to www.vandemorefuneralhome.com.

Teresa was born October 24, 1962, the daughter of Edward and Virginia (Schreier) Beechler, in Park Falls, WI.  She earned her CNA license in 1987 in Minnesota, where she met Rudolph Obsnuk, Jr.  In March of 1988, they married.  He preceded her in death in January of 2012.  Teresa loved taking care of patients and worked in the registration department at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis, for ten years.  She was an avid quilter and enjoyed sewing.  Her favorite things to make were the children’s Halloween costumes.  Teresa liked doing crafts and had a great love for birds, especially owls.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Jennifer (Harrison) Gernant of Geneseo, Lizzy (Josh Yoshikawa) Obsnuk of Denver, CO, and Sally (Cristian Alvarez) Obsnuk of Aurora, IL; her best friend and granddaughter, Evelyn Gernant; and siblings, Kenneth Beechler of AZ, Edward (Sue) Beechler of KS, and Ann Beechler of LaCrosse, WI, and her boyfriend, Jeff Schwerdtfeger.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Virginia Beechler; her loving husband, Rudolph Obsnuk, Jr.; sister-in-law, Lynn Beechler; and two women she called mothers, Ida Robinson and Sally Campeau.
