Terry W. Gephart, 74, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away at his home in Colona on Saturday, May 3, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. There will be no visitation per his request. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 10th, 2025 from 2 P.M. – 5 P.M. at 111 West North St, Geneseo, IL 61254.
Terry was born on October 28, 1950 to Charles and Marthia (Agans) Gephart in Moline, IL. He married Millie Lawrence in 1971. Terry was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. He served with the 82nd Airborn division special forces unit. After returning home, he wore many hats, working as a radio dispatcher for the Milan Police Department, earning his Journeyman certificate at Williams and White in Moline, IL, and serving on the Rock Island Arsenal Police Department until 1987. Terry also worked many years as an electrician at the Rock Island Arsenal, and Tyson Foods in Joslin, IL before becoming general foreman for Syvier Steel in Bettendorf, IA. Terry wasn’t happy unless he was busy. In 1987 he bought the Midway Tap in Hillsdale, IL and owned it until 1999. Terry also had a passion for racehorses. He owned, bred and won with multiple horses at Prarie Meadows Racetrack in Altoona, IA. After retiring, he enjoyed flipping a few houses, fishing, restoring classic cars and boats, and finally venturing down to Harriman, Tennesee.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 54 years, Millie, “he was the love of her life but could also be her worst enemy”; children, Dawn (James) Kaecker, of Cordova, IL, Jarred (Jill) Gephart, of Geneseo, IL, Megan (Justin) Peterdic, of Clinton, IA, and Chud Gephart of Davenport, IA; 13 beloved grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. He loved the Lord. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.” John 14:27
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marthia Gephart; brother Charles (Butch) Gephart; sister, Judy Pavlicek; and one great grandchild.
