Thomas W. Shoemaker, Sr.

Thomas W. Shoemaker, Sr., 87, of Cambridge, IL, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023, at Illinois Veterans Home of Anna, IL.  The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel.  Reverend Stuart Schoup will officiate.  Military Honors will be accorded by the Geneseo VFW – Don Cherry Post.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funereal home.  Messages of condolence can be left at www.vandemorefuneralhome.com.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Congregational Church, 101 W. Pearl Street, Geneseo, IL, and Geneseo Aisle of Flags.

Thomas was born July 17, 1935, the son of Willard and Margaret (Vincent) Shoemaker, in Geneseo, IL.  He attended Geneseo High School.  On December 19, 1955, he married Ann Robery at a service held in Marion, MA.  He was employed as a plumber at Oscar Meyer, Davenport, IA.  Thomas was a member of First Congregational Church, Geneseo.  He liked to travel, was a great carpenter/woodworker and enjoyed painting landscapes – his abilities were endless.  He especially loved spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Ann Shoemaker; children, Thomas Shoemaker, Jr. and Patricia (Tony) Thompson; grandchildren, Darin, Trevor, Tyler, and Abigail Thompson, and Grant and Gavin Shoemaker; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Raegan, Mathew, and Lucas Thompson; and sister, Marilyn Borkgren.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Margaret Shoemaker; and sister, Dorothy Shoemaker; and grandson, Benjamin Thomas Shoemaker.
