Virgil M. Bultinck Jr., 83, of Geneseo, IL, passed away on May 18, 2024, peacefully at his home surrounded by family. A memorial visitation will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory-Geneseo Chapel. He will be laid to rest following the visitation at the Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Geneseo VFW or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Virgil was born on December 3, 1940, in Canby, MN, the son of Maurice and Rose (Grengs) Bultinck. He served in the United States Army 24th Infantry Division being stationed in Germany from 1959-1962. Virgil married the love of his life Sandy Kapple in 1964 and she still survives. He loved going fishing, camping, watching Geneseo football games, NASCAR and was an avid Minnesota Vikings and LA Dodgers fan. He served as a lector at St. Malachys Catholic Church, active in the Geneseo VFW, and coached and watched his kid’s sporting events. Virgil worked at JI Case and IH in Rock Island as a paint foreman, Paint BMY, Alexander Lumber and Farm and Fleet. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
Those left to cherish his memory are wife, Sandy Bultinck, children, Tony (Tracey) Bultinck and Christy (Bill) Linsley, sister, Eileen Ayers, grandchildren; Bridget and Andrew Bultinck, Koy (Adriana) Linsley, Kody (Sarah) Linsley, Steven (Suzannne) Linsley and Cassie Linsley, 8 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Rose Bultinck.
