Walter H. Kurima

Walter Hiroaki Kurima, 87, of Geneseo, passed away at his home on May 23, 2023. A private Memorial Service will be organized by the family to remember and honor the life of Walter. Cremation Rites have been accorded by Vandemore Crematory.

Walter was born June 13, 1935, in Florin, California. He was married to his wife, Joyce Yuriko Niimi (born in Hiroshima, Japan), on June 22, 1968, in Chicago, IL. Walter was a computer specialist for the US Department of Defense for 30 years. He enjoyed traveling, hiking, and visiting his three sons, as well as his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

He is survived by his sons, Will (Cheryl) Kurima of Aurora, IL, Dave (Denise) Kurima of Monett, MO, and Kent (Collay) Kurima of Washington, IL; grandchildren, Sophie, Rachel, Jason, Katie, Ashley, Dylan, and Sydney; great grandchildren, Kaiyah and Kalessi; sister Frances (Paul) Arakawa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his sister Jean Sato.
