Wanda Elaine Forsythe, 90, of Davenport, IA, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Kahl Home, Davenport, IA. Cremation rites have been accorded and a private (family only) inurnment will be held at a later date at North Cemetery, Geneseo, IL. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel will be assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Geneseo Isaac Walton League.
Wanda was born on August 27, 1934, the daughter of Vern and Lenora (Stotmeister) Darling, in Geneseo, IL. She graduated from Geneseo High School, class of 1953. She repaired small arms during Vietnam and retired from the Rock Island Arsenal after working there for over 29 years. Wanda was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. She enjoyed fishing, carpentry work, birdwatching, tending to her flowers, and being a talented seamstress. She always enjoyed making clothing for her children.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Colleen (Dennis) Bourdeau of Davenport, IA, Kelly Harty of Erie, IL, James (Sue) Moenck of Davenport, IA, and Ernest Moenck of East Moline, IL; ten grandchildren; siblings, Joan Case of Davenport, IA, Linda Henry of Geneseo, IL, and Rex Darling.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Lenora Darling; daughter, Candace Harty; sisters, Kathleen Bingman and Louise VanDeWiele; and brothers, Vaughn Darling and Warren Darling.
