William “Bill” A. Kelsall, 82, of Geneseo, passed away at his home on Monday, April 5, 2021. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021, at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo. Funeral services will immediately follow. Reverend Chris Ritter will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Memorials may be made to the Geneseo Masonic Lodge.
Bill was born on July 16, 1938, in Coal Valley, IL, the son of William “Bill” H. and May (Webb) Kelsall. He married his loving wife, Diane Atwell, on August 14, 1960, at First United Methodist Church, Geneseo. Bill worked for DeLeuw Cather as a surveyor for the construction of the New Jersey Turnpike and Interstate I-80 in the Quad Cities. He then worked for John Deere Harvester Works. He retired on July 31, 1998. Bill loved hunting and trap shooting with his sons, Mike and Scott. He also enjoyed other outdoor activities such as fishing and camping. Bill was 50+ year member and past Master of the Geneseo Masonic Lodge.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Diane Kelsall, Geneseo; daughter, Penny Swanson, Atkinson; son, Scott Kelsall, Geneseo; grandchildren, Kelsey Swanson, Rock Island, Tyler Swanson, Atkinson, Jace Kelsall, Fairfax, IA, Kylie Kelsall, Aurora, IL, and Lindsey (Jordan) Balmer, Geneseo; great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Devynn Swanson, Rock Island, IL; sisters, Betty (Jerry) Kessel, Jane (Everett) Swanson, and Lois Rink, all of Geneseo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mike; parents, William “Bill” and May Kelsall; brothers, Dean, Paul, and Ben Kelsall; and sisters, Dorothy Heitkotter and Sally Brewer.
