Her love for dogs and horses inspired her to begin a career working for Dr. Alex B. Stone, DVM, in Moline. Yvonne was united in marriage to Willard G. Sammons on June 12, 1955, at Ebenezer Church in rural Geneseo. After her marriage, Yvonne was a dedicated stay at home mom to her four children. She was a member of Ebenezer Church Friendship Class, Mothers of Twins Club, Phenix Center School Mothers Club, and Farm Bureau Women’s Committee. Yvonne enjoyed music, sewing, cooking, baking, and canning produce from her garden. Her love for cooking led to the start of her own business, Country Kitchen Catering (1978-2002). Yvonne is still known in the community for her potato salad and cinnamon rolls. She also loved special times spent with her family, camping get-togethers, visiting and playing cards with friends.
