Alice L. (Bates) Hutchinson

Alice L. Hutchinson, 89, of Geneseo, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Hammond-Henry Hospital Long Term care Unit, Geneseo. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 9th at the First United Methodist Church, Geneseo.  Rev. Dr. Chris Ritter will officiate. Burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery, rural Atkinson. Visitation for Alice will be Tuesday from 4-7 PM at the Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo.  Memorials may be left to the First United Methodist Church, the Geneseo Food Pantry, or State Road Church.

Alice was born on December 17, 1926 in Wethersfield Twp., rural Kewanee, the daughter of Carl & Verla (Werkheiser) Bates. She graduated from the Wethersfield High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to Wilbur Hutchinson on April 14, 1946 in Kewanee, Wilbur passed away in 1993. Alice was devoted farm wife,  she and Wilbur farmed in rural Atkinson, and they operated Hutchinson Trucking for many years before moving to Geneseo 1985. She was a very active and devoted member of the First United Methodist Church, Geneseo where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was an avid quilter and member of the Geneseo Community Quilters.  Alice was an avid card player in three card groups, and belonged to sewing groups as well. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, and Alice had belonged to the State Road Church and the Burns Township Social Circle. She loved her family and spending time with all of them.

Survivors include her children: Diane McCann, Moline, IL, Darla (Mark) Anderson, Geneseo, IL and Darrell (Doris) Hutchinson, Atkinson, IL; Grandchildren: Amy (Brian) Bogner, Darren Hutchinson, Alison(Doug) Tomczak, Mike McCann, Adam Anderson, Aaron(Keely) Anderson, Ashley (Garrett) Mangan, Kurt Hutchinson and Tony Hutchinson; Great Grandchildren:  Addison, Hudson, Owen, Sadie, Zach, and Matthew;  Sisters: Donna Nelson, Geneseo, and Phyllis (Alvin) Hepner, Kewanee; Brother: Earl Bates, Kewanee; And her Sister-in-law: Carol Bates, Galva.

Alice was preceded in death by Her Parents;  husband, Wilbur; one son, Dennis Hutchinson October 25, 2016; 2 brothers: Tom and Eddie; 2 sisters: Lois Dienst and Doris Bickers
