I was a teammate of Darrel, fall semester 1957, at the U of Illinois (my freshman year). We had a math class together and studied together. I had an injury and had to quit football, but I continued school and graduated in architecture. Over the years, when I think of my freshman year I remember Darrel as the older guy I studied math with, and, from time to time (over the years) I have thought about him. The memories are good and I don't think I would have passed the math class without him. He was older (5 years) than me and took me under 'his wing'. I will never forget him and what he meant to me. God bless his family.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the DeDecker family. Never easy losing a loved one, especially the extra good ones! My mom (Ione DeDecker Hicks) and dad, Clarence thought a lot of Bump. I remember dad talking about working for them back in the day. Love and hugs to all.

to Hank and family. We all will miss Bump so much , he was a great guy and always had time to say Hi and talk a little. everyone will miss him. our hearts and prayers goes to all the family , He isn't suffering anymore and with mom, Dad, Brother, sister and grandpa Gus. He will always be with you in your hearts and memories. He will always watch over you all until you meet again. I have such fond memories of my visits to the store to see Gus and family. Bump was always such a kind gentle man who battled through many adversities and was an inspiration to all. Please accept my deepest condolences.

So sorry to hear about Bump. He was a special Man. Will never forget the Christmas day when our furnace went out. It was well below zero my plants were freezing and we all had coats on. . Bump spent most of that day with us fixing the old furnace. Also Len has lots of good stories about shoting Picks with him. Bump always said he was the worse shotter of the lot but it sure wouldn't of been the same without him. Sending our Love to all of you.
