Helen Rae (Miller) Larimer

Helen Rae Larimer, 94, of Geneseo, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 27, 2016 at Hammond-Henry Hospital Long Term Care.  A Funeral Service celebrating her life will be at 11 am on Monday, May 2nd at Grace United Methodist Church, Geneseo.  Rev. Melva England will officiate.  Burial will follow at Annawan Cemetery.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior (10-11 am) to the service at the church.  Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memorials may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church.

Helen was born on December 13, 1921 in Annawan, IL, the daughter of Grover and Edna (Batten) Miller.  She graduated from Annawan High School in 1939 and went on to Hershey’s Beauty School in Kewanee, from which she graduated in 1941.  She was united in marriage to Glyndon Brownell in 1945.  They moved to Geneseo in 1953 and he passed away November 1963.  She later married Scott Larimer on February 17, 1968.  He preceded her in death in 2001.  Helen operated a beauty shop in the Park Side Hotel in Kewanee and later in her home in Annawan.  She also worked as a receptionist for Dr. Doering and Dr. Parsons and later at the Geneseo Telephone Company.

Helen was a member of HHH Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, Grace United Methodist Church, Rose Circle, Geneseo Country Club, and several card clubs.

She is survived by her children: Jann (Glenn) Sigwalt of Geneseo, IL, and Jim (Jeannine) Larimer of Rochester, MN; grandchildren: Traci Sigwalt of Geneseo, Jason (Kelly) Larimer of Geneseo, and Jodi Larimer of Fargo, ND; and several great and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both husbands and her parents.
