Joe was a wonderful man I met in the 1960's. He was an excellent musician who helped and encouraged many people always with a smile. He will be missed immensely so we treasure his memories. I bought an Alto Sax in 1965 and still have it and enjoyed playing it with him in the Maple City Band. My father Virgil was a long time member and served in many areas. I also have a silver Clarinet and recently bought an Alto Sax for my granddaughter. I pray for you. Sincerely, Randy

Played in Maple City Band with Joe for several years--he even recruited me for a few small group performances in Atkinson. He truly loved music and was a role model for making a love of music a lifetime pursuit. I just found out that my new hometown is starting a community band, and I would be proud to contribute to it as Joe did to MCB for so many years.

I am so sorry to hear of Joe's passing away. I have so many wonderful memories of our times in the Hammond Henry Gift Shop with he and Sandy in charge of the cards. Those were some good times.
I can see him playing his clarinet with the Angels now.

Sandy and family.,
Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Joe was such a giving individual who shard his many talents with so many, young and old alike. There was never a time that Joe did not have a smile and a greeting whenever he saw us. As a teacher, one always leaves a little piece of his/her heart with each student. After teaching, Joe shared himself with his church community and everyone he met doing volunteer work. His family was his pride and joy. Our community was given a gift of music when that "Iowa"boy came to Atkinson. God be with each of you. Joe may not be with you, but he will always be within you.
