Having known Joe and Mary Ellen for nearly forty years, and having attended school with all their children, I am genuinely saddened by this enormous loss. He was a kind and altruistic soul, one who helped me above and beyond during the years I worked at WGEN. I and others in the community are better for having him in our lives, and his presence will be irreplaceable.

May his memory be eternal.
