Kent G. Blackert

Kent G. Blackert, 63, of rural Prophetstown, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo.  Per his request, no services will be held and Cremation Rites have been accorded by Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory.

Kent was born on October 13, 1952 in Morrison, IL, the son of Gordon and Darlene (Anderson) Blackert.  He graduated from Prophetstown High School in 1970.  He was united in marriage to Lynn Brants on September 28, 1974 in Hooppole, IL.  Kent was a lifetime farmer on the family farm in rural Prophetstown and in earlier years he worked for Verstraete’s Garage.

Kent was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Hooppole.  He loved spending time on the farm and being with his grandchildren and his dogs.

He is survived by his wife Lynn; daughters: Amy (Dave) Hartman of Davenport, IA, Jamie (Gabe) Dietz of Tampico, IL, and Michele (Chad) Baze of Prophetstown, IL; grandchildren: Aubrey Baze, Justin Hartman, Caleb Baze, and Connor Baze; sisters: Christy Blackert (Jerry Anderson) of Davenport, IA, and Candice (Virgil) Hairgrove of Morton, IL; brother: Kevin (Kim) Blackert of Lynn Center, IL; and father-in-law: Leroy Gollnitz of Hooppole, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Dorothy Brants.
