Lucille M. Buysse

Lucille M. Buysse, 95, of Atkinson IL, died Wednesday, April 19, at Hammond Henry Hospital Long Term Care Unit Geneseo. A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 25 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Atkinson IL. Father Burns will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory in Atkinson, where the Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be at St. Anthony Cemetery. Memorials may be left to St. Anthony Catholic Church in Atkinson, or the American Diabetes Association.

Lucille was born June 23, 1921, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, to Julius Eeckhout and Ida Marlier- Eeckhout. She married Albert C. Buysse February 18, 1939, in Atkinson. Lucille spent her life as a farm wife and homemaker, raising four daughters. She was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society of St. Anthony Catholic Church, as well as a member of the Women of the Moose #990 and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed embroidery, baking, and gardening.

She is survived by her four daughters; Connie O’Connor of Davenport, IA, Eileen Verbeck of Kewanee, IL, Lanette (James) Carlson of Cambridge, IL, and Marla (Rock) Katschnig of Prophetstown, IL; her sister Marietta DeSmet of Rock Island; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Albert, and her brother Leonard “Buddy” Eeckhout.
