Michael D. "Mike" Vandersnick

Michael D. “Mike” Vandersnick, 51, of Atkinson, passed away Friday, June 17, 2016, at his home.  A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21st at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory, Atkinson.  Father S. Stephen Engelbrecht will officiate.  Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Atkinson.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, where a rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.  Memorials may be made to the Michael Vandersnick Memorial Fund.

Mike was born on January 28, 1965, in Geneseo, IL, the son of Duane and Inez (Lund) Vandersnick.  He graduated from Atkinson High School in 1983 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University in 1987.  He worked for Great Dane Trailer Corp. in Kewanee as a parts distributor for 15 years.  Previously he had been the restaurant manager of the Marriott Hotel in San Francisco, CA.  Mike was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.  He was an avid Chicago Bears and Illini fan.

He is survived by his mother, Inez Vandersnick; sister, Kim (Randy) VanMeenen of Geneseo; brothers, Larry (Caryn) Vandersnick of Geneseo, IL, and Jason Vandersnick of Silvis, IL; nieces and nephews, Terri VanMeenen Misfeldt, Kelly Holevoet, Christopher Vandersnick, Connor Vandersnick, Kylee Vandersnick, and Ashtyn Vandersnick.

He was preceded in death by his father.
