Dear Brenda and Kent,
I was sorry to see your mother's obituary in the Geneseo Republic. As you may recall, our families had ties to the Grace Church... and I remember your mother and mine were good friends. I've lost all track of you two, especially since the loss of my parents (dad in 1996 and mom in 2003)... and having lived in Oregon for the last 36 years. I do hope your memories of your mom's well-lived life will sustain you in this difficult time.

Dear Brenda, I am so sorry to learn of your loss. I have wonderful memories of your mother and mine, getting you and I dressed up as Scott Girls and also as Goldwater Girls as part of their campaigning for Republican candidates. I still have my Goldwater cowboy hat. We had many sleep-overs and rides on our horses. Your mother always had a smile and warm welcome. I can hear her voice right now. It is hard to see the passing of the "old guard" of Geneseo. My mother has been gone two years and Dad for three. It is harder than I can express to cope with such a profound loss. Be in touch. Customarily we say we condole a family by confessing that we too suffer a loss, and in the passing of your mother, and the closing of all of those memories of her kindness and humor and graciousness in her home, there is a loss not to just to me but to the many, many people, now no longer young, who knew your parents through yourselves, Brenda and Kent. That is some small evidence of the impact they had upon the community and the simple joy in life they shared with all.

What great childhood memories growing up across the street from the Yagers! Their sheep in the pen in the field behind their house, their horse in the field behind Connely's, their daschund Heidi, going out to Eldon's farm properties with him--I could go on and on. I will be unable to attend services Monday, but will stop by the house Sat. My condolences to Kent and Brenda.
